Savannah College of Art and Design Fashion Design student with a Fashion Marketing and Management minor.
Krista's
house is the type of place that you automatically feel very at home in.
The decorating is minimal but obviously very carefully thought out.
A
couple things I loved were
her collection of cute little storage boxes,
her gorgeous bed frame and her creative idea for displaying and
hanging her necklaces and clutches from the wall. Oh, and this cute
little plaque that was above her closet door with a quote from
Cinderella!
"I am a Fashion Design Major with Fashion Marketing and Management
Major. I don’t really know specifically who I want to work for when I am
finished but I want to work for a company or brand as a designer.
I also like the idea of being a technical designer or working on patterns.
Pattern making is kind of where I’m leaning to right now. I really
like making patterns and a lot of other design majors don't want to get
into that. I like that you have to be really precise with it. You have
to be able to transform a two dimensional object into a
three-dimensional object. You are constantly going back and forth from
how should it look in the 3-D form to how do I represent that in a two
dimensional flat pattern. It’s nice when you have worked really hard on
a pattern and you start sewing it and it works out just how you’ve
planned it to. I can see my self working at Donna Karan specifically in
DKNY. Maybe even J. Crew or for someone like Chris Benz – that would be
fun.
I don’t really have a style icon. I kind
of go more towards trends and what looks good for me. I like to wear
what looks good on me as opposed to what everyone else likes. I don’t
like the whole sheer trend but I really like all the bright colors I am
seeing right now, and I am always a big fan of prints. I like florals – I
just love prints. I usually find a lot of my inspiration for outfits
online. I look on a lot of different fashion blogs. There are a couple
of plus size fashion blogs that I look at that are really good, like
Saks in the City – that’s a really good one. I also look
at lookbook.nu, but I think everyone does that. I’ve been looking at
Fashion Notes, it’s a fashion blog that talks about current things in
fashion, whats new in the fashion world, new ad campaigns – that kinda
stuff. I look at Frisky all the time. Frisky is a blog that talks about a
lot of different things, including relationships and fashion.
My
style tends to be a little bit more classic. I love this black blazer
I’m wearing and more simple pieces but then I’ll wear a crazy floral
print with it. I want to make sure it fits good and that its sleek and
easy to wear. I don’t really wear a lot of accessories because I don’t
want to have to deal with them throughout the day, so I just keep it
low-key. During the day I usually wear jeans, Sperry’s and this flannel
shirt I have with ruffles around the neck. Definitely a comfortable
shirt with jeans no matter what. When I go out I usually do heels-
generally black heels but I have this purple suede pair of BCBG heels
that I wear all the time. They are BCBGeneration, I got them at T. J.
Maxx. Sometimes I wear a dressy top and jeans or I have this red
leopard print pencil skirt that I pair with a cardigan. My new favorite item is my cross-body Nine West bag that I just got at Belk. I love BCBG heels. I usually get them at T.J. Maxx. I
do the majority of my shopping at T.J. Maxx they cary

purses, I have a couple of them. I look for shoes on DSW.com they have
lots of great shoes. I also am a huge Michael Kors fan – I have a
Michael Kors bomber jacket, its my favorite and I like Cynthia Rowley.
Alexander
McQueen has always been a favorite of mine. I think Sarah Burton is
designing for them right now. I like the level of creativity and the
execution of the design. Its always a fantastical type of thing to see.
It’s a standard that a lot of designers put them selves to. I love it, I
think its beautiful. It’s a story with creative, whimsical flair that’s
always seen from the Alexander McQueen line. I like Carolina Herrera
because she’s so feminine and I really like her ads. And Marc Jacobs,
his actual line. Lately, I’ve been really interested in Chris Benz. He
came here to SCAD for the Style Mentor lab and before hand I hadn’t
really seen any of his stuff but the more I’ve seen it the more I like
it. His aesthetic is feminine and kind of artsy.
For makeup I use Clinque and Lancome.
I use a basic face powder and a Lancome quad, which is three different
shades of purple eye shadow. I use the pot eye-liner by Bobbi Brown and always do a winged line on my lid. I use Nanette Lepore perfume and I straighten my hair every day. Deep conditioning is a common thing for me. I’m a really big fan of Butterfly Flower by Bath and Body works. I couldn’t live without my face powder or my eye-liner."
